I have to agree that Luciano's voice is wonderful - so rich and warm. His music is always positive, and uplifting. He definitely deserves a place on the list of great reggae singers. Thanks for pointing out this omission. - Allison

Tarrus Riley

This was an excellent pick, as he has an unbelievable voice. Although he lacks major hits outside of "She's Royal" he is excellent.

Love my reggae music, but i think Tarrus Riley is only big because Reggae is dying and he is the only decent one to come through. I was in Jamaica in 98 and was buying Tarrus Riley back then, when I came back to UK no one was interested in him, then 6 years when he bust big everyone is going mad about him. Check out his early stuff on Love Promotion label, even radio DJs were begging me the tunes when he broke. Give me the messenger Luciano any day.

Remember he has songs like Parables, Lion Paw, Love's Contagious, Good Girl gone Bad, Human Nature, Stay with You (the last two are covers, but they're so good - even John Legend thinks Tarrus' version of Stay with You is as good, if not better than his!)

Definitely think he earned his place on this list!

I agree that Shaggy should be on the list of best reggae singers. From his early days with songs like "O Carolina" he's been a force to be reckoned with. Then there's that fantastic song he did with the church bell ringing in the background, that had singing that sounded like monks chanting. Can't remember the name, but it featured Ninja Man in the video. He's really given us lots of good hits.
